ROB ZOMBIE To Direct Sequel To 'The Devil's Rejects'

Rob Zombie's next film as a director is reportedly a sequel to his 2005 hit "The Devil's Rejects". According to Bloody Disgusting, Zombie is definitely moving ahead with writing and directing the movie, although he has yet to confirm or deny the report himself. "The Devil's Rejects" was Zombie's second film and arguably his best. It was also a hit, earning $17 million at the box office on a small $7 million budget and doing tremendously well on DVD.
"The Devil's Rejects" picked up the story of the infamous Firefly family, a clan of psychopathic murderers first introduced in Zombie's 2003 debut as a feature film director, "House Of 1000 Corpses". Zombie told The Pulse Of Radio upon the release of "The Devil's Rejects" that the second movie did not leave room for a sequel. "No. It ends here," he said. "I couldn't do anything with any impact if the movie ended and you felt like it set you up for another movie. That's the main thing I hate about sequels. There is no big dramatic ending, there is no climax, because they don't want to have one. The movies never end. You just lessen the impact just to protect your franchise."
It's actually unclear whether the new movie would focus on different characters or possibly be a prequel, since the main members of the Firefly family died in a hail of bullets at the end of "The Devil's Rejects".
Rob has made no secret of his interest in making another movie based on the characters from "The Devil's Rejects". He told Fangoria Legends in a 2014 interview: "I've always thought I'd like to make another movie, because I love the characters, and I have an idea I think is solid for a third one — an idea that would make sense. The problem is I don't own the characters now. They're owned by Lionsgate, and they just don't have any desire to do anything. So it isn't me not doing it because I don't want to; I don't have the ability to get it done."
Zombie's last film, "31", came out in 2016 and was not well received by either critics or audiences. His other movies include the 2007 remake of "Halloween", its 2009 sequel and 2013's "The Lords Of Salem".
He announced last year that his next movie would be a film about the last days of legendary comedian Groucho Marx, but little has been heard about that project since.
