Ellefson Films, the new film production company run by MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson and his partner, music and film producer and industry exec Thom Hazaert, is partnering with musician, filmmaker and actor Drew Fortier ("Zen From Mars", "Her Name Was Christa") on an original horror film titled "Dwellers", with Fortier writing, directing, and starring. Additionally, Hazaert and Ellefson are both set to appear in the film as featured cameos.
The plot for "Dwellers" is as follows: While shooting a documentary on the suspicious disappearances within the homeless community, a filmmaker and his crew go missing while uncovering a terrifying and vicious secret below the city's surface.
Fortier said: "I've been tossing the idea of 'Dwellers' around in my head for a few years now and am excited to finally make it a reality. It made perfect sense to rope in my buddies Ellefson and Hazaert for this whole thing as producers and I am honored to have their support for the film. The cast is amazing and I can't wait to show off the finished product."
"Dwellers" marks the first film project greenlit by Ellefson Films and also stars James L. Edwards, Douglas Esper, Rick Jermain and Mitch Lafon.
Fortier is also in production on "Thanks. And Sorry: The Chuck Mosley Movie" which will dive into the life and music of the late FAITH NO MORE frontman Chuck Mosley.
Ellefson has appeared in the award-winning documentary "Landfill Harmonic" as well as the critically acclaimed Netflix hit "Hired Gun". He also narrated several films in the "Inside Metal" series for producer Bob Nalbandian.
Hazaert served as co-producer on the "life on the road" music documentary "Long Way To The Top", featuring members of NINE INCH NAILS, DEF LEPPARD, LIMP BIZKIT and more, and co-produced special features for Scream Factory, in conjunction with Red Shirt Pictures, including classic titles "People Under The Stairs", "Exorcist 3" and "Army Of Darkness", plus the short film "No More Mr. Nice Guy: The Music Of Shocker", directed by Hazaert under his THC Films banner, appearing on the 2015 Scream Factory Blu-ray special edition of Wes Craven's "Shocker".
