It’s been years in the making, and ZZ Top is honored to announce their collaboration with fellow Texans and The Original Texas Whisky, Balcones Distilling. Introducing... the little ol’ whisky from Texas, Tres Hombres (50% ABV), named in honor of ZZ Top's first Top 10 album in 1973.
"We’ve been coordinating tasting and blending sessions virtually over Zoom with Balcones over the past year or so," says ZZ Top. "Together, we set out to create a whisky with the foundational grains of Balcones - Roasted Blue Corn, Malted Barley, and Rye. Three distinct whiskies, and three distinct band members - married together to create a one-of-a-kind spirit with Texas-sized flavor. The sum of its parts tells a compelling story, just like the iconic tunes of the little ol’ band from Texas…"
On the nose, Tres Hombres is evaporative and spritely with aromas of honeycrisp apples and buttered pastry; with a hint of suede and whiteflower honey. The taste is sweet and coating with good acidity, brown sugar and red grapes. The finish is effervescent with a bit of fresh ginger and sage.
Tres Hombres Texas Whisky is available nationally for pre-order online and will be rolling out across Texas in mid-November. Secure your bottle now at Balcones Distilling.
