Swedish Death Metal veterans, Evocation, have signed with Massacre Records! The band’s first release under the new partnership will be their upcoming four-track EP, “The Immortal Remains”, opening a new chapter for a band that representing the first wave of Swedish Death Metal.
Formed in 1991 in Sweden, Evocation have been part of the Swedish Death Metal scene since its early days. Over the years, Evocation have released albums through labels such as Century Media and Metal Blade. They have also toured Europe with Cannibal Corpse, Amon Amarth and Arch Enemy and performed at major metal festivals worldwide.
After going on hiatus in 2019, Evocation are back with their founding line-up. “The Immortal Remains” features Marko Palmén (guitars), Thomas Josefsson (vocals), Vesa Kenttäkumpu (guitars), Janne K. Bodén (drums) and Gustaf Jorde (bass and backing vocals). Mixing and mastering were handled by Lawrence Mackrory (Meshuggah, Bloodbath).
The new collaboration also has a special connection: Evocation and Massacre Records were both founded in 1991. More than three decades later, the band and the label are joining forces for the next chapter in Evocation’s history.
Evocation comment: “We are very proud to join the Massacre Records family. The label was founded in 1991, the same year EVOCATION was born in Borås, so it really feels like this was meant to happen. Thomas and the crew at Massacre Records have been great to work with all the way, and we could not ask for a better home for our new release The Immortal Remains. We are looking forward to getting this EP out there and to working together for a long time to come. All hail Massacre!”
“The Immortal Remains” is currently planned for release in early 2027, ahead of Evocation’s first reunion show, scheduled for May 2027. Artwork for the EP will be created by Misanthropic Art.
Massacre Records are proud to welcome Evocation to the family and look forward to working together on this new chapter. More details about “The Immortal Remains” will be announced soon.
