Legendary bassist, Tony Levin, has released The Book Of BEAT, a 156-page softbound photo book drawn from the thousands of pictures he took onstage and behind the scenes during BEAT’s 2024 and 2025 world tours. The book is available now at the merchandise stand at the BEAT North American concerts and online at tonylevinmusic.com.
BEAT brings together Levin and Adrian Belew — both members of King Crimson’s celebrated 1980s lineup — with guitarist Steve Vai and Tool drummer Danny Carey to perform the music of the King Crimson albums Discipline, Beat and Three Of A Perfect Pair. Levin, who has kept a camera close at hand throughout his career, documented the project from a vantage point no outside photographer could share: on the stage itself, in the wings, and on the road between shows.
The Book Of BEAT collects 188 of those images, capturing the four musicians in performance and in candid off-stage moments, alongside the audiences who filled venues from Brooklyn and Austin to Monterrey, Santiago and Tokyo.
“It’s been fun going through all my tour pics to find the best ones — to assemble a book that gives the feel what the tour was really like, and to feature shots that include our wonderful audiences!” said Levin.
Tony Levin is one of the most recorded and respected bassists in rock. A longtime member of King Crimson and of Peter Gabriel’s band since 1977, he has also performed/recorded with artists including John Lennon, Paul Simon, and Pink Floyd. A noted player of the Chapman Stick, Levin is equally known among fans for his photography and writing documenting life on the road.
Tony Levin is currently on tour with BEAT featuring Adrian Belew and Steve Vai plus Terry Bozzio filling in for Danny Carey this fall. The Book Of BEAT is available at the merch booth on this tour.
