For the German heavy metal quintet Generation Steel, the signs are literally pointing to a storm: The band has strengthened its line-up in many areas and is ready to launch a true head-banger – their third studio album, Steelmachine.
The previously released title track already perfectly showcased the direction they’re heading in. With new members Thilo Herrmann (guitar, ex-Running Wild, ex-Grave Digger) and Mike Stark (vocals, Feanor, Stormburner), the band has reinvented itself. Together with Piet Sielck, who has already put his stamp on classics by Gamma Ray, Blind Guardian and Grave Digger, they forged nine steel-hard tracks that perfectly embody traditional heavy metal.
Today marks the release of “Witches Cross,” the second single – a dark true-metal banger accompanied by an impressive music video. Stream or download the track here.
Band founder and guitarist Jack The Riffer: “The song ‘Witches Cross’ tells the story of the witch hunts in the Middle Ages, but it also serves as a metaphor for exclusion, fear, and blind fanaticism. Historical events here serve as a mirror to our own time, in which people are still hastily judged and publicly pilloried. The song is meant to remind us how important it is to prioritize truth, humanity, and critical thinking over prejudice.”
Also starting today is the pre-sale for the Steelmachine album, which will be released on CD and as a limited-edition orange vinyl (plus a signed autograph card). New merchandise and bundles are also available in the band and label shops.
