Rock Candy has announced the end of Rock Candy Magazine. June/July’s Issue 56 is the last issue of the mag and features Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott on the cover.
Owner Derek Oliver has released the following statement:
“Firstly, thank you so much for being on the Rock Candy journey with us!
“Unfortunately, I have to let you know that we won’t be producing any more magazines beyond issue 56 that’s presently on sale. Sadly it’s simply not financially viable to go on any further with those. We have created the bi-monthly magazines for almost ten years, and are all immensely proud of each collectible issue we created, they were all labours of love and I know that many of you have appreciated them.
“There is some good news for those of you waiting for new releases from Rock Candy Records as two White Wolf and two Spider (the US band that featured Holly Knight) reissues are in production with a release date set for August 7th. As most of you already know, the reissues always have high quality booklets with essays written by the writers who have also been writing for the magazine. There are more reissues on the way in the coming months.
So we hope you enjoy the new reissues that are on the way and if there are any back issues of the magazine you missed you can check out sample pages for all of those on the website. Also, the Rock Candy Records website will reopen in time for the new releases to go on sale in August.
“It’s been a pleasure to create the magazines, I’m glad we have offered such great, collectible, fact-filled and beautiful magazines to the rock world for such a long time and I want you to know that we have always appreciated the dedication and appreciation so many of you have shown to all things Rock Candy.”
