DARKYRA are back with their brand-new single, "We Are Blind", delivering another haunting journey into the band's signature symphonic gothic metal sound. Watch the official video here.
Blending cinematic orchestration, symphonic grandeur and a dark gothic atmosphere, "We Are Blind" recalls the classic sound of DARKYRA's earlier work while showcasing the band's continued evolution. Powerful, dramatic and emotionally charged, the track is a must-hear for fans of symphonic and gothic metal.
Darkyra is a band with a history that spans over a decade. Current members are Gina Bafile - vocals (Anfitrite), Drew Casella – drums, Maaz Manik – Bass and Pedro LeLorenz – Guitar.
2024 the Darkyra brand returned to the stage after very long hiatus. 2025, album 3, ‘Lifeforce’ was released under renowned Australian label, Battlegod Productions.
Since ‘Life Force’s release, the focus has been on growing as a band, writing the next themed album and raising the bar on their local performances. Earlier this year they supported Finnish Power Metallers, Battle Beast at Magnet House, Perth.
About the bands new single: ‘We are Blind’
“Preoccupied by material things, glued to our devices, oblivious to some of the rotten things happening around us. If only we really opened our eyes and looked to see what was happening. Poverty, crime, pollution, the list goes on. What will we leave for the children of the future? A photograph.... a souvenir of our once beautiful world.”
The song is traditional akin to some of Darkyra’s earlier compositions, Symphonic and Cinematic with a Gothic Metal vibe.
The vocals, a beautiful blend of two very different but distinct voices, haunting at times, chanty and semi operatic with a rock edge thrown in for good measure.
Accentuated by the many beautiful orchestral elements surrounding their metal counterparts, the soaring melodic metal guitars, and bass and the steady but carefully thought-out drums meld it all together. Everything is in its place and the playing from each musician is always based on what is best for the song as a whole with each having their moment to shine.
The track, co-written by vocalist Gina Bafile and guitarist Krissy Sanfead (Parabelum), (Krissy performed as part of Darkyra 2024, the two of them have been friends and music colleagues for many years.) Beautifully arranged by George Boussounis (Athens).
The track runs for 5:30, there's also the instrumental version which excludes the vocals so you can hear the instruments with better detail.
