Bassist Quits COMMUNIC

Norwegian progressive metallers COMMUNIC have published the following update:
"After 22 incredible years as a founding member of Communic, our longtime bassist and friend Erik Mortensen has decided to step down from the band due to personal health challenges that require his full attention and focus.
This has not been an easy decision, but it is one that has been made with mutual understanding, respect, and support from everyone involved. Over more than two decades, Erik has been an essential part of Communic's journey, contributing not only his musicianship but also his dedication, friendship, and countless memories both on and off stage.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude for everything Erik has brought to the band throughout these years. His contributions have helped shape Communic into what we are today, and for that we will always be thankful.
While we are saddened to see this chapter come to an end, our primary concern is Erik's health and well-being. We fully support his decision to prioritize himself and focus on recovery.
Replacing Erik will not be an easy task. Having shared this journey together for more than two decades, his presence in the band has become an integral part of who we are. However, with new music currently in the works and our "Waves Over The North tour" approaching later this year, the search for a new bassist will begin immediately.
We wish Erik the very best for the future, a speedy recovery, and success in whatever path lies ahead. He will always be a valued part of the Communic family, and his contributions to Communic will never be forgotten".
Statement from Erik:
"After much consideration, I have made the difficult decision to step away from Communic and focus on my health and personal well-being. This band has been a huge part of my life for over two decades, and I am incredibly proud of everything we have achieved together.
I would like to thank Oddleif, Tor Atle, everyone who has worked with the band over the years, and especially our fans around the world for your support, loyalty, and encouragement throughout this journey. The memories, experiences, and friendships I have gained through Communic will stay with me forever.
While this chapter is coming to an end for me, I look forward to seeing Communic continue its journey. I wish the guys nothing but success in the years to come.
