Former DRAGONFORCE frontman ZP Theart has released the long-awaited acoustic studio recording of "Trail Of Broken Hearts".
Originally performed live acoustically on the "Chaos" radio show with then-DRAGONFORCE bassist Frédéric Leclercq back in 2006 during the "Inhuman Rampage" era, the track has remained a favorite among fans but was never properly captured in studio quality, until now. The new version brings the song to life with the clarity and depth it always deserved.
The release comes with a brand-new music video that captures the same intimate spirit. Shot in a near pitch black setting with only warm, moody lighting, the visual focuses solely on ZP and an acoustic guitar. His performance is mind-blowing in both tone and power, reminding the metal world exactly why his voice defined a generation of power metal. This track marks Theart's fourth studio release of the last seven months, following the arrival of "Electric Beings" in April 2026, his 20th-anniversary reimagining of the DRAGONFORCE anthem "Through The Fire And Flames" in January 2026 and "Dark To Light" in December 2025.
DRAGONFORCE's platinum-selling single "Through The Fire And Flames" brought the London-based Grammy-nominated extreme power metal group international acclaim and was featured as the most challenging song on "Guitar Hero III".
In March 2019, the "Through The Fire And Flames" music video reached a new milestone: it surpassed one hundred million views on YouTube — DRAGONFORCE's first music video to do so.
"Through The Fire And Flames" was the leadoff track from 2006's "Inhuman Rampage" album, which was officially certified gold in July 2017 by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) for sales in excess of half a million copies.
