UK metal force Day 40 return with a vengeance, dropping their brand new single “Tyrant of Syracuse” today. The track serves as the second single from their highly anticipated full-length album Phenomenon , set for worldwide release on June 12, 2026.
Following the release of the first single “Tunguska” earlier this year, Day 40 double down with a track that hits harder, cuts deeper, and expands their sonic arsenal. “Tyrant of Syracuse” showcases the band’s signature blend of thrash precision, melodic tension, and cinematic atmosphere, while pushing their sound into even more ambitious territory.
Adding serious firepower to the track is guitarist Kris Norris (ex- Darkest Hour ), who tears through a blistering guest solo that brings an extra layer of intensity. The song also features multi-instrumentalist Nikolay Velev , known for his work with Scapegoat and others, contributing rich, atmospheric keyboards that elevate the track’s epic scope.
It’s been a long road since Day 40’s debut album Only The Stones Remain , released twelve years ago, but this is a band that clearly didn’t sit still. With the addition of virtuoso lead guitarist Nikolay Atanasov and powerhouse drummer Hugo Terva, the lineup is tighter, sharper, and ready to do some real damage.
“Tyrant of Syracuse” dives into themes of power, control, and downfall, wrapping historical influence in a modern, aggressive sonic assault. It’s the kind of track that feels just as comfortable blasting through headphones as it does shaking the walls of a packed venue.

With Phenomenon on the horizon, Day 40 are proving they’re not just back, they’re leveling up. Expect more visuals, more noise, and more stage time as the band builds toward release day.
