Former Cradle Of Filth guitarist, Marek “Ashok” Smerda, has checked in with the following upate:

“I am excited to announce I’ll be playing bass for the amazing team in Leaves’ Eyes for their upcoming European / UK shows.

Getting back on stage in the new year to fill in for this incredible band is such an honor and I am excited to give my best in a new role surrounded by a hoard of Vikings.

Special thanks to Alexander Krull and the guys in Leaves’ Eyes, most especially bassist Dominik Prykiel, who prepared me to step in for him as he fulfills other commitments. This is going to be a fun one!”

See you on the road!”

Ashok was reportedly fired from Cradle Of Filth in 2025 “due to contractual disputes.”

Leaves’ Eyes recently released the official video for “Song Of Darkness”, the title track of their new EP, Song Of Darkness, available on March 6 via Reigning Phoenix Music.

Vocalist Elina Siirala states: “‘Song Of Darkness’ is like a play with contrasts: it combines the mysterious and dark with light and angelic. In the midst of a dark story, there’s a feeling of hopefulness! The opposing elements create once again a perfect canvas and drama for a Leaves’ Eyes song!”

“Our ‘Song Of Darkness’ transports you to a world of dark dreams and inner turmoil, where mystical spirits from ancient times guide your destiny. A tragic love story, but no happy ending,” adds band founder Alexander Krull.
