ANNEKE VAN GIERSBERGEN Shares New Solo Single / Video “Red Sky”

Singer / songwriter Anneke van Giersbergen (The Gathering) has checked in with a new update:
“Hey everybody! My EP, La Mort, the second part of my triptych La Vie, La Mort, L’Amour, will be released on March 27. The first single, ‘Red Sky’, is out today! We’ve just released a music video that you can watch here. Enjoy!”
Anneke comments: “Not every song on ‘La Mort’ is literally about death, writing doesn’t follow rules like that, and I’m glad it doesn’t. ‘Sail Towards The Sun’, however, is about saying goodbye to my father. He once built his own seaworthy sailboat, and we spent many family holidays on the water. That memory lives very close to my heart.”

As with the first EP, ‘La Vie’, Anneke once again recorded the new songs with her live band, capturing an organic sound. The lineup on “La Mort” consists of:

Anneke issued the following announcement in early 2025 regarding her new solo work: “Dear friends, few things are as exciting as releasing new music! What starts as a simple idea, shaped in the comfort of solitude, eventually becomes a fully produced release that involves many musicians, technicians, art designers, and more. Over the past few months, we’ve worked very hard on developing and recording these four songs. I’m incredibly proud of the result!
My new album will be titled La Vie, La Mort, L’Amour – French for Life, Death, Love. This collection of songs will be released as a trilogy.
In 2026, the three EPs will come together to form a full-length album. The release of the third EP will coincide with a physical version containing all the songs, available as a CD Digipak and Gatefold LP.

Back in December 2024, The Gathering’s classic lineup of Hans Rutten (drums), René Rutten (guitar), Hugo Prinsen Geerligs (bass), Jelmer Wiersma (guitar), Frank Boeijen (keyboards, backing vocals) and Anneke van Giersbergen (vocals), initially announced two concerts to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their Mandylion album. Those two shows were expanded to five, taking place at Doornroosje in Nijmegen, Netherlands between August 27 – 31.
They have announced more tour dates for 2026 in support of Mandylion’s 30th anniversary.
