American thrash metal veterans Meliah Rage, with 12 albums released over the last 40 years, announce the retirement of founding lead guitarist, Jim Koury, from live performance and welcome fellow Boston-based Caith Threefires as new touring lead guitar player.

Caith (pronounced KAY-ith) has been a friend and supporter of Meliah Rage from its very inception, having befriended the band’s founder Anthony Nichols in high school in 1980 when he loaned Nichols his amp for a battle of the bands performance. Together, the two guitarists infiltrated the exploding Boston metal scene of the early 1980s. After a few attempts at starting a band together, the two eventually followed different paths. But they always kept in touch.

Caith is a seasoned professional touring and recording musician who has performed at festivals, theaters, casinos and nightclubs from coast to coast. His passion for heavy rock music began in the early 70s with radio hits like “Ballroom Blitz” and “Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo”. His tastes rapidly extended into the depths of heavy-ocity as bands like Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Scorpions, UFO, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Metallica and Slayer informed his metal education.

Caith is a high energy performer whose stage presence has been described as “badass”. He brings a no-nonsense attitude to every show demonstrating his passion for metal and dedication to delivering his best.

“I’ve always been a huge fan of Meliah Rage’s music” says Threefires. “I admire Tony’s ability to keep coming up with fresh sounding riffs and interesting arrangements after all these years that excite the imagination yet never give up their metal ferocity. He has a great sense of musicality and is a total perfectionist, which I also admire. He’s also very prolific! After four decades he’s still a constant source of enthusiasm, energy and new ideas, and I am stoked to finally get to share the stage with my high school metal buddy.”

Caith’s first performances with Meliah Rage will be March 27 (with Voivod) at 2 Minutes To Midnight in Tulsa OK and May 2 (with Kings Of Thrash) at Piranha Pit Fest III in Montreal, Canada.
