Lik, the modern-day purveyors of classic Swedish death metal, have undergone a change in their lineup. An announcement from the band reads:

“Chris Barkensjö has decided to part ways with Lik. It’s been one hell of a ride and we will forever have some fond memories to look back upon. We wish him the very best in his adventures ahead.”

“As for the upcoming live shows, you’re in for a real treat as none other than our good friend Waltteri Väyrynen from Opeth will be grabbing the sticks to perform some real Stockholm Death Metal with us on our upcoming live shows.”

Chris’ statement:

“Thank you & good bye!

I have decided to step away from the band I´ve been a founding member of since 2014.

My reason is simple and honest: it’s no longer fun for me, and I no longer have the energy required to continue in a way that feels right & honest. I don’t want to stay out of habit or obligation. The band deserves full commitment, and I’m no longer in a position to give that.

This decision isn’t about conflict, bitterness, or a lack of respect — quite the opposite. It’s out of respect for the band and for myself that I’ve chosen to step aside. But my passion for playing drums remains unchanged.

Thank you to everyone who’s been part of the journey since 2014.

I wish the band nothing but the best moving forward.

Cheerio!
Chris”

Lik will return to stages in March when they kick off the Necrofeeling Over Europe Tour 2026! Comments the band: “In March & April we drag Necro across European soil – a procession of stinking, rotten, & unspeakable volume. Join the march or be buried beneath it.”
