Jay Jay Brown of Rob Halford’s Fight band has Surprised Fight fans by unveiling a new rendition of the Fight song “Immortal Sin”; check out the video here.

The clip features Jay Jay on bass and backing vocals, Metal Matt on lead vocals, Carmine J. Putzu on guitar, and a special appearance from Satchel of Steel Panther, otherwise known as Russ Parrish of the Fight band, who agreed to be in the video too.

Making this is probably the closest thing to a Fight reunion that we are going to get anytime soon, Jay Jay rarely appears in collaborations and this is his first time playing a Fight song again since the Fight days, making it extra special alongside bandmate Russ Parrish.

Jay Jay appeared a few months back in an original song by Metal Matt called “Devil In Disguise” (watch the video here), and also in a Judas Priest cover of “Devil’s Child” featuring Bob Tyrrell (watch the video here).

Fight; a short lived but iconic band formed by Rob Halford during his departure from Judas Priest in 1992, this was Halford’s opportunity to showcase what he was all about with the aggressive thrash attack of the Fight band, taking things away from the leather and studs and taking things back to basics with his more casual attire, with an ethos that all that matters is the music and wanting to get in people’s faces and take things back to the roots, keeping it very raw and real.

Their debut album, War Of Words, being very successful, was followed by a second release, Small Deadly Space, which wasn’t as successful but had some great songs, showcasing more of a band effort approach to the songwriting, compared to Halford’s more solitary approach to songwriting on the debut album, where he had a lot to say lyrically and musically, and wanted to show everybody what he was about, and it’s always been super heavy, fast and real.

Jay Jay Brown a tattoo artist from Ohio, known to have first met Halford when tattooing him, who then was offered the job in Fight along with Jay’s friend and bandmate Brian Tilse.

Fight also featured Scott Travis of Judas Priest on drums, and Russ Parrish on guitar, who was suggested by mutual friends.

This band had such great chemistry. They were responsible for some of Halford’s most iconic solo catalogue, including songs like “Into The Pit”, “Nailed To The Gun”, and the song that has been revived for this very rare collaboration with Metal Matt; “Immortal Sin”.

Metal Matt is a singer / songwriter from England, living in Mexico currently. Inspired by Rob Halford’s vocal style, Matt has always cited Halford as being a big influence on him as a singer, in fact Rob Halford actually coined the name “Metal Matt”, which he has stated he uses as his musician name with much pride.

Jay Jay, having recognized Metal Matt’s vocal skills and Halford-esque high vocal style, has in the past stated, “I’m calling you up if Rob doesn’t do a reunion!” And they have since taken the opportunity to collaborate together on a few projects, but this is the first time performing a Fight track and a familiar favourite.

Metal Matt previously appeared alongside Satchel and Steel Panther in a live acoustic performance of the fight classic “Into The Pit”, which you can watch here.
