Xbotteri Releases Galaxy of Stars, a New Concept Album 25 Years After His Last Solo Work

Swedish–Italian musician Xbotteri, known as a founding member of the pioneering metal acts In the Woods… and Green Carnation, announces the release of his long-awaited new solo album, Galaxy of Stars. Arriving twenty-five years after his previous solo records Keeper of My Soul and Raining Gold, the album marks a powerful return to his roots, while exploring bold new sonic territories.
Following his influential work with In the Woods… and Green Carnation, Xbotteri went on to create Strange New Dawn, a project that evolved from progressive metal into a darker, more symphonic and black-metal-infused expression. Throughout his career, he has remained dedicated to pushing musical boundaries, and Galaxy of Stars continues this legacy.
Originally conceived as a single hour-long composition in the spirit of Green Carnation’s Light of Day, Day of Darkness, Galaxy of Stars ultimately emerged as a seven-track concept album, with interconnected lyrics forming one unified cosmic journey. Drawing inspiration from Pink Floyd, Hawkwind, and the atmospheric depth of Steven Wilson’s The Overview, the album blends space-oriented soundscapes with Xbotteri’s signature emotional intensity.
True to his one-man-band ethos reminiscent of Bathory, Xbotteri performs all instruments on the album himself. The video for the lead single, “Teacher of Future Commands,” features guest appearances by his twin brother on bass and Joey Thunders on drums, with visual production by Sven Rothe.
“Teacher of Future Commands” delves into the dreams and visions that come to Xbotteri in sleep, images of hope, purpose, and a world transformed for the better. The song reflects themes at the heart of Galaxy of Stars: the eternal battle between light and darkness, good and evil, and the search for peace within the vastness of the universe.
“Galaxy of Stars is the soundtrack of my life,” Xbotteri says. “It tells the story of my inner world, my hopes, my darkness, and the light I keep searching for.”
Galaxy of Stars is now available on all major streaming platforms, with physical editions forthcoming.
