Black Lion Records presents the upcoming third full-length, Vulgus Illustrata, by Polish death metal band Insidius, slated for November 7 on CD, vinyl, and across all major digital platforms.
Active since 2012, Olsztyn-based Insidius blends old-school and technical death metal with blackened elements, pounding out a dark and intense sound. Over the years, the quintet has built its presence through two albums and consistent touring, sharing stages with Vader, Marduk, Azarath, Witchmaster, Nervosa, Trauma, Vesania, Grave, and Antigama.
Their debut Shadows Of Humanity (2016) showcased a raw yet structured approach to death metal, drawing from both classic brutality and modern precision. 2018’s Infamia (Ermland Productions) expanded their sound with more intricate arrangements and a darker atmosphere, helping the band earn wider recognition. Tracks like “Swarm!” and “Raise Hell” specifically highlighted the band’s matured songwriting.
Between 2023 and 2024, Insidius returned to Heinrich House Studio in Poland to record their third album under the guidance of Filip Halucha. The album Vulgus Illustrata delivers eight tracks that push further into technicality while retaining the band’s blackened edge. The songs strike a balance between fast, driving riffs and darker, reflective passages, capturing the raw energy of death metal alongside hypnotic depth. Lyrically, the album confronts ignorance, greed, dogma, and conflict, shaping them into brutal allegories where human folly and corruption are laid bare in grotesque, apocalyptic detail.
Adding an extra layer of intensity to the album, the track “Destroy The Priests” features guest vocals from Peter Wiwczarek of Vader and a searing solo by Moyses Kolesne of Krisiun.Listen to it here.
