After the commercial and artistic success of their 1973 album Dark Side Of The Moon, Pink Floyd began recording the follow up in January of 1975. The resulting album, Wish You Were Here, was released in September of that year.
A personal favourite of both Dan and Tim of Pale Wizard Records, Wish You Were Here is a timeless classic of progressive and psychedelic rock music. The album’s delicate balance of introspective lyrics and expansive soundscapes made it a fan favourite. In particular, it channels the band’s personal struggles; most notably, the absence of their former bandmate Syd Barrett, whose mental health issues had caused him to depart the group years earlier. Through songs like “Shine On You Crazy Diamond” and the title track “Wish You Were Here”, the band wove their pain and reverence into hauntingly beautiful music; establishing a profound connection with their listeners worldwide.
Now, on September 12, 50 years later to the very day, Pale Wizard Records will release their carefully curated tribute album, Wish You Were Here – 50 Years Later. The whole album reimagined by a roster of great rock bands from around the world.
Pink Floyd – Wish You Were Here: 50 Years Later will be available on CD, limited edition vinyl and all major platforms. Deluxe CD digipak includes two additional bonus tracks. The 12” vinyl comes in two variants: Obscured By Clouds Edition and Terminal Frost Edition.

Pale Wizard Records is a labour of love for its co-founders Tim Hilleard and Dan Flitcroft, who release music that they love, and that they find interesting. In 2021 they released their first ’50 Years Later’ LP which was a tribute to the classic Alice Cooper album Killer. This was followed up in 2022 with David Bowie’s incredible Ziggy Stardust, in 2023 with Budgies Never Turn Your Back On A Friend and most recently with Sparks’ Kimono My House in 2024.
Pale Wizard Records intend for the ’50 Years Later’ series to continue paying tribute to amazing albums that deserve attention. They enlist a fantastic roster of hard-working bands from the rock scene, some of which they’ve shared the stage with themselves, and others of which they’ve previously admired from afar. They aim to release at-least one ‘50 Years Later’ LP per year, charting classic albums right through the 1970’s and beyond.
