Catalyst Crime, who are fronted by former Cradle Of Filth keyboardist and backing vocalist Zoe Marie Federoff, have checked in with the following update:
“Dear Catalyst Crime friends,
Many of you noticed we were gearing up for a release next month with teaser posts and hints about an upcoming single/album. Unfortunately, after much thought, we’ve decided to once again delay the upcoming release. Most of it was written 3-4 years ago before Zoe joined another band, and is unrelated to anything underway in the public eye.
We have been sitting on this nearly complete album for almost 3 years and we hate to delay it again, but we feel strongly that it has nothing to do with current events and needs its own space to breathe.
We apologize to everyone who was anticipating this release and we hope to have a new date set soon when the time feels right. This hiatus should hopefully be much shorter than the last.”
Catalyst Crime is an international cinematic symphonic metal band that began in 2017 as a project between Xandria drummer Gerit Lamm and American vocalist Zoe Marie Federoff. They joined with orchestral composer and keyboardist Jonah Weingarten (Pyramaze, Aries Descendant), guitarists Chena Roxx and Kaelen Sarakinis, and bassist Matt Federoff, eventually taking shape into a fully formed band, blending the epic soundscapes of symphonic metal, the dark intensity of death metal, and moments of free-spirited progressive metal.
Upon meeting the band and hearing their music, legendary producer Alexander Krull (Leaves’ Eyes, Atrocity) eagerly joined the team and began recording sessions at Mastersound Studios in Stuttgart, Germany. Their self-titled debut album was released in October 2021 to widespread acclaim. Building off the positive reception of the album and 3 video singles, the band returned to Mastersound to record their second – and once again delayed – album in the fall of 2023.
