PAT TRAVERS Announces New Release, Going Down To Jacksonville – 1983; “Your Love Can’t Be Right” (Live) Single Streaming

Hard rock guitar god, Pat Travers, continues his much-acclaimed investigation of his on-stage archive with another classic concert.
Packaged with liner notes from Travers himself, as well as a bonus studio track on the CD version, Going Down To Jacksonville was recorded on April 10, 1983 at the Jacksonville Memorial Coliseum, towards the end of the Travers band’s tour in support of the Black Pearl album.
It was a phenomenal performance, a blistering barrage that kicked off with “Your Love Can’t Be Right” – a fan favorite since its first appearance on the 1980 album Crash And Burn, which also reappears today as Travers’ new single. Stream it here, and listen here.
From there, the jewels simply rain down, just one road tested, hard rockin’ anthem after another… “Life In London,” “Stevie,” “Born Under A Bad Sign,” “Snortin’ Whiskey And Drinkin’ Cocaine”…. Simply listening to the show is exhausting – imagine what it must have been like to be there.
That said, the pre-show portents were not good, as Travers recalls. For the latest album, he had augmented his regular team of Mars Cowling (bass) and Sandy Gennard (drums) with two new players, Don Harriss on keyboards and Joey Jelf on backing vocals and blues harp.
“Unfortunately, a day or so before this particular show, while we were playing a softball game at our home base in Orlando, Don collided with another player and fractured his wrist. We were unable to find a replacement… so we decided to do without for the last couple of shows.”
And how did that work out for you? “I think it sounds pretty cool.” He’s right, as well.
