The impressive figures speak for themselves: Axel Rudi Pell has been part of the Steamhammer/SPV family for 39 years, initially from 1986 to 1989 with his erstwhile band, Steeler, and since then consistently as a solo artist. This remarkable consistency, which has produced 42 releases to date, is not about to change. The Bochum-based guitarist, composer and band mastermind has extended his decades-long contract again and has also announced two studio albums with the Hanover label.
Pell comments: “There’s never been any question for me about staying with SPV, for almost 40 years I’ve had an exceptional team behind me that stands for passion and excellence and has always allowed me complete musical freedom. There’s great trust and a strong friendship between SPV and myself, which I will be more than happy to continue.”
Axel Rudi Pell is currently on tour with his band and will then start working on his upcoming album.
Pell adds: “From May 2025, I will be sifting through the best riffs and hooks from the various ideas I’ve collected to write songs that will be in line with the tradition of my previous albums, but are also guaranteed to include a number of exciting new features. The studio recordings are scheduled to start in August 2025 and the new album is set to be released at the end of January 2026.”
Just a few weeks later, from March 2026, the Axel Rudi Pell band will be on tour again.
Steamhammer label manager Olly Hahn is also delighted to continue this successful collaboration beyond 2025, stating, “Thanks to Axel’s signature on his extended contract with Steamhammer/SPV, our 39-year journey will continue. I can’t think of another artist who has been with the same record company for such a long time. Thank you, Axel, for your loyalty and our easy collaboration! Here’s to the next five years at least!!!”
The whole SPV team is excited about the extension together with Axel.
