"20 years without Dimebag Darell. To celebrate his life we wrote a song about it. Enjoy!"
On December 8, 2004, Damageplan - Dimebag Darrell's new band with brother / drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott - was performing at the Alrosa Villa nightclub in Columbus, Ohio. A deranged fan, Nathan Gale, rushed onto the stage as the band played the first song of the set and shot Darrell multiple times. The band's head of security Jeffrey "Mayhem" Thompson, fan Nathan Bray, and venue employee Erin Halk were also killed in the struggle to subdue Gale. Three others were wounded before Columbus police officer James Niggemeyer entered the club and shot Gale once in the head. Abbott was pronounced dead at the scene, aged 38.
