Michael Sweet explains video for new Stryper single “Betrayed By Love” to stay ahead of any critiscism

Christian rockers Stryper consisting of lead vocalist / guitarist Michael Sweet, drummer Robert Sweet, guitarist Oz Fox and bassist Perry Richardson have unveiled a video for their new single “Betrayed By Love” from their latest studio album When We Were Kings, which was released via Frontiers Music Srl on September 13, 2024.
Michael Sweet felt the need to explain the video for “Betrayed By Love” via the following post on his Facebook account earlier today:
“I figured I’d deal with this before it blows up.
1 – The guys aren’t in the video. Why? Because we couldn’t make that happen. Not enough time and not enough money. It was easy for me to go to a studio and get some footage of me at least singing parts and playing the solo (which I played in the album).
2 – AI. Yes we used it for this video. I’m not a huge fan of AI and I’ve expressed concerns in recent interviews. I think as long as it’s mixed with human interaction then it can be useful and really work. We tried to make that happen with this video. We didn’t want to use real actors as that is next to impossible to pull off with a tight budget. You can get cheesy very quickly. We didn’t even want to go there.
3 – It’s a dark ballad. About being betrayed by love. Jesus was betrayed by love. We’ve all been betrayed by love. I thought it was fitting to write a song about that.
4 – I really hope you all can enjoy the song/video. We work our butts off to bring you the best. Our best. We’re just grateful we’re still releasing new music and some of you are still listening“
