Eonian Records introduce their latest signing, San Diego rockers REWIND, the brainchild of two best friends, guitarist and producer Mick Perez (JONES STREET, WARRIOR) and vocalist Andrew J. Kenesie. Check out their first single/lyric video "I'm In Rewind" here.
Mick Perez, the guitarist and producer for REWIND, elaborated, ”As the guitarist and writer for REWIND, collaborating with a talented singer and writer such as Andrew has been an incredible journey. The dynamic drumming by Dave DuCey (Warrior, Rhino Bucket) and the recording techniques I learned from Joe Floyd (Warrior) and Sean Kenesie greatly enriched our studio experience. While my years with Warrior provided invaluable experience, we took a different approach in our writing to create something uniquely ours. We’re excited to share these songs with the world, showcasing the passion and energy we’ve poured into them."
Stephen Craig, Eonian Records Founder, said, “We hope music fans will enjoy this new Eonian Records title, I’m in Rewind. REWIND is a killer-sounding rock/metal band with heavy, dragging grooves, fat guitar riffs, and creative, twisted lyrics! Their third release, and first through Eonian Records, was produced by Mick Perez (Jones Street, Warrior) , and exceptional final mastering by Anthony Focx (Aerosmith, Buckcherry, Daughtry, Shinedown) will entice and enthrall the band’s new and old fans. What drew Eonian Records to REWIND was their electrifying, fresh, and powerful sound, which we foresee as poised to leave an indelible mark on the music scene. You would be remiss if you did not check out this soon-to-be-be metal classic from REWIND. Do not miss I’m In Rewind!”

Mick and Andrew have known each other since childhood. Andrew recalls going to Organ Power Pizza after a Little League game when the boys were probably ten years old, and Mick was playing the organ. As Mick and Andrew grew older, the boys went their separate ways. Mick pursued his music career and moved to Hollywood, where he joined the sleazy rock/metal band Jones Street and began playing the Hollywood circuit. Andrew went to San Diego State University and graduated with a degree in business. Around this same time, Andrew formed Freudian Slip and began performing around the San Diego club circuit. In the early ‘90s, Freudian Slip went into the studio to record with Andrew’s brother, Sean Kenesie, and his partner, Joe Floyd, at Silver Cloud Recording Studios in Burbank, CA. At that time, Andrew was reunited with his childhood friend, Mick, who was a member of the iconic and influential metal band WARRIOR. They began talking about writing some tunes together, and shortly after that, REWIND was born.
REWIND is a band all its own, owing its distinctive sound to a mix of hard rock, metal, and alternative rock, splashed with occult rock and even grunge sensibilities, melding together to create a powerful sound and electrifying energy. Bursting onto the scene with their self-released debut album, Irrigate Your Mind, REWIND instantly showcased their unique alt-rock sound and masterful songwriting. Their follow-up album, Moment in Time, garnered acclaim from fans and critics alike. Germany’s RockHard Magazine honored REWIND as one of its “Top Ten Unsigned Metal Bands” and awarded it a stellar 9 out of 10 rating. REWIND was packing venues and featured an “A-List” of top studio and touring musicians, including Rob Simpson on guitar, Eddie Bosnoyan on guitar, Paul “Boz” Hopwood on bass, Rob Farr (RIP) on bass, and Dave DuCey on drums.
After years of dedication, the new album I’m In Rewind holds special meaning for its creators, Mick and Andrew, and is something they consider “extremely intimate and powerful.” As Mick put it, “It’s not as much the time spent in the creative process, as the long journey of refinement that accompanied each stage of its development” that makes the album so personal and such a strong representation of the band’s style and sound.
The broad influences of this eclectic act seep into this new collection of recordings, flavoring the songs with the experiences and emotions of their creators while uprooting any preconceptions of their work to date. On this Eonian Records release, Mick and Andrew explore new realms of creativity, trusting in the process and allowing “the skills of being a musician to give way to an overall vision and putting them at the service of the music itself.” As a result, I’m In Rewind presents REWIND, as you have not yet experienced, in a vulnerable and authentic expression of their talent.
Each song across this 17-track, in-your-face album fades in and out like fragments of emotion situated in sound. I’m In Rewind’s mind-melting roller coaster whips wildly through one musical realm after another. Even the most straightforward bangers practically dare the listener to catch their breath before they’re suddenly turned upside down again. Andrew states, “The lyrical content of this composition takes the listener on a wild ride through time and journey of soul. At times, the emotional ride exudes love, laughter, and pain. Such is the magic of life!”
