Finnish cello rockers APOCALYPTICA have released a new single, "What We're Up Against", which features guest vocals from AMARANTHE's Elize Ryd.

The collaboration between these Nordic titans not only results in a dynamic musical fusion, but also boasts a visually mesmerising music video featuring both APOCALYPTICA and Elize.

Eicca Toppinen of APOCALYPTICA expresses his excitement about the collaboration, stating: "We wanted to make a song with Elize since we toured together in the beginning of 2020. This song felt perfect for this collaboration, and Elize is giving an amazing performance! The song is about being true to your values and the importance of being aware of formulating opinions and taking action in today's world."

"What We're Up Against" is a powerful anthem that transcends musical boundaries, blending APOCALYPTICA's signature cello-driven metal with Ryd's electrifying vocals. The accompanying music video promises a visually stunning experience, bringing the synergy of these two Nordic musical forces to life. As APOCALYPTICA and Elize Ryd continue to push the boundaries of their craft, "What We're Up Against" stands as a testament to the strength of their collaboration and a rallying cry for staying true to one's convictions in the face of a complex world. The single is now available on all streaming platforms.

In a recent interview with Tuonela Magazine, Eicca and his APOCALYPTICA bandmate Perttu Kivilaakso confirmed that they have been working on material for the next studio album. "We've had already two sessions," Eicca said. "We are working in L.A on the new album and doing it in different periods, like in a few parts. And we've been working on that."

Perttu added: "Actually, this is the first time ever that we do the album recording in [several different] periods. I actually really like that [we] have a three-week [session], going back to the gigs in meanwhile, and then continuing. It's different kind of [approach] and gives you fresh [perspective on the music]."

Regarding a possible release date for the new APOCALYPTICA LP, Perttu said: "The main aim is to have it out about halfway next year. And then we are gonna tour big time after that. And it's gonna be great — amazing."

As for what APOCALYPTICA fans can expect from the new record, Eicca said: "Let's put it that way — we have challenged ourselves in new ways once again."
