The Spanish melodic rock band Nexx will release their lost album in Spanish, Otro Amanecer, on November 17th at 00:00 CET on all major streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, etc.).

Their two albums in English, Colours (Now & Then Records, 2003) and Another Dawn (Angelmilk Records, 2006), will also be released on digital platforms for the first time, as they were previously released only on CD format.

Nexx (1999-2007) was a highly acclaimed melodic rock and AOR band that emerged in Spain in the early 2000s. They played at major festivals in the UK and Spain, respectively, such as Gods of AOR, Firefest, and Nemelrock, and toured Spain solo and with renowned international rock acts like TNT, Firehouse, Tyketto, Mitch Mallow, and Jeff Scott Soto. The band was formed by Bernardo Llobregat (guitars), Jose Ángel de la Banda (bass), Óscar Pérez (drums - Ñu, Ars Amandi, KHY), Patricia Tapia (lead vocals - Mago de Oz, KHY) and Fran Rodríguez (keyboards, substituted by Benjamín Andrea in their final year). Concert promoter José Herrera (sadly deceased recently) was their manager.

The lost album of Nexx, Otro Amanecer, is the Spanish version of the band's second album, Another Dawn. An album designed to reach out to that part of the Spanish and Latin American public that prefers the language of Cervantes to the language of Shakespeare, and at the same time, to hear Patricia's voice more natural, free, and unleashed singing in her native language.

Both versions of this album were recorded between 2005 and 2006 in Runcorn, UK, for the English record label Angelmilk Records, with Pete Peewee Coleman (AC/DC, Paradise Lost, The Christians, The Charlatans, OMD, etc.) as engineer and producer, with a string and wind section, including members of the BBC Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Bill Connor (Eric Clapton, David Bowie, The Who, etc.) and backing vocals by Steve Overland (FM) and Danny Vaughn (Tyketto). While the English version was released on CD in 2006, to very good reviews from the specialized press, the Spanish version was shelved waiting for the right moment. But that moment never came and, a few years later, when Angelmilk Records disappeared, the masters of Otro Amanecer were completely lost.

In September 2023, members of Nexx contacted Andy Bramhall, owner of Angelmilk Records, with the idea of trying to re-release the band's discography. Both parties began to search for the lost album. The search through the old boxes of the Runcorn recording studio, which had been completely remodeled in recent years, found nothing of interest. They then began to ask people who were involved in the release of Another Dawn at the time. And that's how, in a remote corner of the island of Tasmania (Australia), on a hard drive belonging to Andrew McNeice, whose website melodicrock.com is a reference in the world of melodic rock and AOR, the only copy of Otro Amanecer that existed on the planet appeared. Back in the day, a member of Angelmilk Records had sent him two copies of the album for promotional purposes. But only the English album was released for sale at the time. Very kindly, Andrew McNeice sent the Spanish copy back, and the members of Nexx, with the blessing of Andy Bramhall, set to work to finally, 17 years after its recording, release the lost album of Nexx in Spanish along with the two original albums in English.

The first album by Nexx, Colours (Now & Then Records), was recorded in 2002 in the same studio in Runcorn and with the same producer (Pete Peewee Coleman) as Another Dawn. The album was released in 2003, distributed in Spain by OX records, in Europe through Frontiers, and in other countries around the world, such as Japan and Brazil, by independent local companies. The response from the specialized press was excellent. It is a very difficult album to find in CD format, and this streaming release gives a new generation the opportunity to listen to this iconic AOR album.

On November 17th at 00:00 CET (GMT+2), the three Nexx albums will be available on all streaming platforms: iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, eMusic, Napster, Deezer, iHeartRadio, Pandora, Youtube Radio, Tidal, among many others. These releases are dedicated to Jose Herrera, the sixth member of Nexx and the person who rebooted AOR and melodic rock in Spain in the 2000s, and to Gabriel González -dhijo-, a great infographic artist who designed the cover of Otro Amanecer in his day. Both of them passed away a few years ago. Rest in peace.
