Cradle Of Filth frontman Dani Filth has shared the news that his former bandmate Jon Kennedy, also the original vocalist of symphonic black metal band Hecate Enthroned, has passed away at the age of 46. A message from Dani Filth reads as follows:
"It is with much sadness that we hear about the untimely passing of our former bassist Jon Kennedy.
"He was a great bassist and singer who filled in for Cradle at a time of such magical import, mayhem and mischief.
"I distinctly remember having a wickedly wonderful week staying just outside Wrexham in Wales at Jon’s Mum’s house in 1995.
"We picked our own magic mushrooms from a local football pitch and then watched Emperor synch up with the newly-released Disney Aladdin on VHS, heading out to undertake black metal shenanigans thereafter. We were always pulling pranks and playfully winding each other up back in those days. He will be missed!"
Kennedy was the vocalist and bassist of Hecate Enthroned from its inception in 1993 to 1994, before rejoining in 1995 and staying with the unit until 1998. He featured on the band's first two albums, "The Slaughter of Innocence, A Requiem For The Mighty" and "Dark Requiems... And Unsilent Massacre." During his first stint away from the band, he would spend a year with Cradle Of Filth, playing bass on the original version of "Dusk And Her Embrace," which would later be released in 2016 as "Dusk And Her Embrace - The Original Sin."
