Sheffield titans Bring Me the Horizon flexed a bit of strategy with their headlining set at Download over the weekend, taking full advantage of the international stage to announce the September 15h arrival of the second installment of their Post Human series with Post Human: Next Gen.
Thus far the band has revealed their volatile creative direction for their next edition with the preview of a pair of powerful singles in “LosT” and the Daryl Palumbo/Lil Uzi Vert assisted, “AmEN!” Watch the video for "AmEN!" here.
Speaking with NME at for the band’s highly-anticipated showing at Download, frontman Oli Sykes revealed some of the influences of the new albu. “Linkin Park were the first band that I got into, but when I found Glassjaw is when I became obsessed with music and knew I wanted to be a singer, so the album pays homage to that.”
Sykes further hinted at what fans could expect of the new material. “I wouldn’t say it’s a hyper-pop album, but I’ve definitely been inspired by that world. I admire how obnoxious, trashy and in your face that music feels, which is what I was drawn to when I got into emo, hardcore and screamo.”
The announcement of the project was executed with an immersive experience that was on site at Download this weekend with The Church of Genxsis. Prepping fans with a series of clues to uncover the secret location, participants were the able to engage in “a variety of immersive Genxsis rituals, including face branding, a sermon and tarot readings as they completed their journey to becoming members” all to roll out the album and complete it’s ritualistic aesthetic.
The album confirmation was also coupled with the news of a 10-date UK/Ireland trek set to kick off 2024. The tour which will include massive plays at London’s O2 Arena and a hometown play at Sheffield’s Utilita Arena will see supporting sets from Bad Omens, Static Dress and Cassyette.
